Highlight of this Special Edition Cutting Board Workshop:
The maple used in this workshop was sourced from a tree that came down from here in the Brooklyn Navy Yard when the area that is now the Wegmans grocery store was cleared for development. The maple timber remained in the Navy Yard from tree to wood, greatly reducing its carbon footprint due virtually no trucking involved in moving it.
The walnut is selectively logged timber that was harvested by a small-scale logger in PA who uses draft horses to pull logs from the woods. This type of selective logging takes only a few trees per acre, leaving the forest intact and devoid of any logging roads which require swaths of the forest to be opened up. These roads leave the earth susceptible to erosion and weakens the canopy, not to mention increasing the carbon footprint due to heavy diesel powered machinery needed to extract logs.
No prior experience needed, all materials included.

Angie Yang, Owner/Co-Founder, Bien Hecho Academy
Angie Yang founded Bien Hecho Academy in 2014 with her husband, John Randall, to share their common love and appreciation of woodworking with the community. After spending almost a decade growing the Academy, While Angie is transitioning the company into a Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise, she dedicates most of her time teaching high school students and other workshops.

Refund Policy
Covid-19 Refund Policy (still in effect updated 12/2023): ALL SALES ARE FINAL. If for some reason we need to postpone your purchased workshop before class takes place, we will gladly hold your space or offer a full amount voucher which can be redeemable at anytime. If there is a shutdown (city, pandemic etc…) after your class has started, we will resume and pick up from where we left off once it is safe for all of us to be back in the shop. Pre-Covid Policy: All refunds are subject to a 6% processing fee. Refunds for classes are only offered up to 7 days before your class begins. Alternatively, you can receive a 100% refund in Bien Hecho Academy store credit, which can be applied to a future class.
